Logo Corporate Identity

The APEC 2020 logo draws inspiration from Malaysia’s national flower, the Bunga Raya, which literally translates to “celebratory flower.” This symbol reflects unity, diversity, and the spirit of togetherness—values central to both Malaysia and the broader Asia-Pacific community.

The logo’s 21 petals represent the 21 APEC member economies, each contributing its unique identity and strengths to form a harmonious and vibrant bloom. Their varying shades of red and maroon illustrate the diversity of the region, while the circular formation signifies cooperation and shared purpose in advancing regional economic integration, sustainable growth, and long-term prosperity.

At the centre, the three pistils evoke the waves of the Pacific Ocean, symbolising how APEC economies are brought together by geography and by the core APEC principles of consensus, voluntary participation, and non-binding cooperation.

Completing the design, the 14-pointed star reflects Malaysia’s 14 states. It also represents the shared aspirations of APEC economies as they look toward a unified Post-2020 Vision, marking a forward-looking commitment to resilience, inclusivity, and collective progress.
